Relief is in Sight at the Bürgeramt: Registering Your Address in Berlin

February 24, 2016 by Kathleen Parker Leave a Comment

Calling the Buergeramt

Hallelujah! This article from the Berliner Morgenpost almost brought tears to my eyes. There’s a new telephone number in town, and it’s a one-way ticket to a fast-tracked appointment at the Bürgeramt in Berlin. No more 8 week waiting, now you can even get next-day appointments.

We just tried it. It works!

If you need to register your address, you COULD try booking an appointment online, but you may not have much luck. They’re booked out for three months, and the appointments aren’t released in real time, which means they disappear into the ether for a while after someone cancels.

Instead, get Red Tape Translation to call the hotline and book an appointment for you, and take an interpreter with you on the day.

If you’re an organisational genius and you’ve got all your paperwork together (including the brand new form from your landlord, mandatory since November 2015), we’ll book and go with you for 69 EUR, all-inclusive.

If you want a bit of support going through the paperwork leading up to your appointment, we’ll help you fill out the forms on Skype or over the phone, book the appointment for you, and organise an interpreter to go with you on the day for 95 EUR all-inclusive. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a bargain.

Wishing you every success with your new apartment and life in Berlin.

Cheers,

Kathleen Parker
