Red Tape Translation talks to Kerry Kempton
Kerry from Australia loves Berlin. Originally from Melbourne, she’s been here since 2009 and never looked back. Kerry took a moment out of her busy schedule to talk to Kathleen Parker at Red Tape Translation about her previous experiences with immigration in Berlin at the Ausländerbehörde in Wedding.
An experienced and qualified travel agent and manager, Kerry holds two degrees and loads of business and management experience. Brimming with enthusiasm and confidence, she dove headfirst into life in Berlin and now speaks excellent German.
Red Tape Translation was surprised to learn that Kerry encountered severe difficulties finding a job. After being granted several visa extensions from the Ausländerbehörde, the case worker gave Kerry an ultimatum: 3 months to find full time employment with a minimum salary requirement, or she would be deported.
Kerry is not the type of girl to give up without a fight. The struggle to find a job in Berlin meant she needed to think outside the box. What is cheaper than a plane ticket back to Australia? A U-Bahn placard!
Kerry hired professional Berlin photographer Alexa Vachon (https://alexavachon.com) and bought large-scale advertising at two U-Bahn Stations. Her ad caused a media frenzy and attracted the attention of newspapers, magazines, blogs and vlogs in Berlin. Several weeks later, Red Tape Translation was thrilled to congratulate Kerry on her new job as a travel agent. Her employer was impressed with her initiative, and the poster secured her a job at a reputable international travel agency.
Kerry is thrilled with her new job and new life in Berlin. Kathleen Parker and Red Tape Translation wish her every success in Berlin for years to come.
